This is a new era for Cava, the Spanish sparkling wine made according to the principles of Méthode Traditionnelle, as it comes out of the shadow of other leading sparkling wine styles and begins to cause serious waves around the wine world.
Julià & Navinès, a small, independent winery located on a hillside above Spain’s rocky northeastern coast, is firmly part of this movement. The family has grown vines and made still wines and Cava here since the early 20th century, but it was only in 1985 that they started to sell their wines under the brand name Julià & Navinès.
The Masia (the Catalan word for a type of farmhouse or rural construction) Navinès is located in Font-Rubí, Alt Penedès, Barcelona. Over the horizon one can see an endless landscape of vineyards, olive trees and grains, the three pillars of the Mediterranean diet. It is a very special place where the climatic conditions and the perfect balance of Mediterranean soils combine to create a privileged site, perfect for growing vines.
